FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WEDDINGS

01. I have questions about wedding photography!

I have answers for any and all questions you might have about having me tell your love story. I actually have an entire page dedicated to wedding information for you to see. You can find information on my approach, the investment, timeline, and a wedding-based FAQ here.

GENERAL

01. What types of photography do you do?

I do a little bit of everything and I'm an adventurous soul, so chances are if you like my work and you've got a request I'm probably down! Overall, I do weddings the most but equally love everything else. If you're graduating, I'm your gal. If you've got a pet you'd like to immortalize, I'm your gal. If you're getting married, I'm your gal. If you've got a newborn growing too fast, I'm your gal. If you need family photos because it's been "forever", I'm your gal. If you want to dress up and take some boudoir shots, you guessed it; I'm your gal.

02. Can I bring my pet along?

Yes. Please make my day and bring your feathered, furry, or scaled friends. Honestly, if you don't, I'll be upset. Not mad, just disappointed.

03. What should I wear?

I always recommend for my clients to wear clothes that represent them, and to avoid basics. There seems to be some weird belief on the internet that black teeshirts and jeans look good for portraits and I can't disagree more. If you really need some help, if I had free reign on styling people I'm shooting, I would say primary colors work well with my style. Or, google Wes Anderson palette and go from there!

04. How long have you been doing this?

I started taking photos as a hobby when I was a seventh grader. That hobby turned into a passion and that passion turned into a career when I moved out at 17. I'll be 29 this year, so I've been doing this for 12 years! I have thousands of hours behind the camera, another ten thousand behind the computer creating artwork in photoshop, and another few hundred teaching workshops or mentoring other photographers in my craft. You are in great hands and I won't let you down!

05. Do you charge for travel?

Yes. In Oregon the legal compensation for gas and depreciation of a vehicle is 59¢ per mile. I'll travel anywhere within 20 minutes included in the cost of your shoot, anything longer than that will have travel compensation tacked on top of the total. In situations where I am doing a shoot out of state, if I am already traveling in said state, I'll only charge whatever the legal compensation is in that particular state! Sometimes, if you can show me a location that is REALLY cool or somewhere I normally wouldn't have access to I'll waive that fee!

style

01. What is your style like?

I'm a bit of a weirdo and it definitely shows in my work. I love symmetry, bright colors, and photographs that make you feel something despite not being able to explain why. I like to create in a way that shows who you are and gives a glimpse into your personality to those looking in. I enjoy getting close and I enjoy encouraging real, raw reactions amongst my clients because that's when you look your best.

02. Will you help pose me / us?

Absolutely! Getting photos taken is a little bit awkward, and I am aware of that fact. This can lead for a lot of "what do I do with my hands!?" moments. My first move is to help you find the right place to stand, and the right angle for lighting. Following that, I'll do some guiding to help you pose your body. Once you're in place, I'll distract you with questions about your life, jokes, etc so that you're not too focused. This makes it so I am getting authentic human responses, and less stiff robot arms. If I can tell you're uncomfortable I'll pause, reassure you, and work on getting us back on the same page before continuing. I aim for this to be easy and comfy for both of us!

03. Do you photoshop your photos?

In a sense. My preference in software is photoshop over lightroom but that's just because I enjoy the possibilities it has. I will edit out anything that isn't a part of who you are. Acne, flyaway hairs, smudged makeup, spinach dip in your teeth etc are all gonezo. Your body type, however, is beautiful how it is and this is an inclusive space. I absolutely will not sit in photoshop and shed pounds from anyone because it makes me feel gross. If you're feeling insecure, please let me reassure you and show you how perfect you are through my eyes!

PAYMENT

01. We're ready to book, what do we owe?

In order to book with me, you need to pay a non-refundable deposit worth 20% of the shoot cost in order to get you onto the calendar. Once that's paid, I'll send over an easy digital contract for both of us to sign. The rest of your balance is due by the end of your shoot.

02. What types of payment do you accept?

Venmo & Zelle are my preferred methods of payment, but I'll also accept cash or check as well. Please kindly keep in mind that should your check bounce, or if it is written from a closed account, there will be incurred fees to cover the inconvenience as that can cost me fees from the bank itself. Additionally, your photos will only be edited and delivered upon completed payment.

AFTER THE SHOOT

01. How long until we get our photos?

I always post a sneak peek within 48 hours of a shoot because I'm excited to load them up, edit them, and share a few with you because I know you're excited, too. Following that, I will continue to lovingly edit your photos and have the remainder delivered within 2 weeks.

02. How will the photos be delivered?

After a couple of weeks of me pouring my soul into perfecting your images, they'll be delivered to you via an online gallery. From there, you can download your photos in one easy click for a ZIP file to your computer, or individually to your mobile device. You can also order professional quality prints from my trusted lab right from your gallery as well and I highly recommend that over FedEx / Walmart etc.
